Kyoto on a Budget: K's House Backpackers Hostel

One of the famous spots in Kyoto...the Golden Pavillion
After having a great time in Tokyo, I went back to Kyoto to spend a night before heading back to Osaka for my flight back to Manila.

I haven been to Kyoto in the past but I have never been to the "must see" spots. As much as possible I try  to avoid touristy spots. But Kyoto is Kyoto, one of the top tourist destination in the whole of Japan so expect tourist everywhere.

The first time I was here  I arrived night time and I was not able to locate my hostel so I ended up sleeping at the train station.

This time around I was able to locate it.
K's House Kyoto
This hostel is only 10 minutes walk from JR Kyoto station. It offers a variety of rooms types, with cozy lounges, fully equipped guest kitchens and outdoor patios.

K's House Kyoto has received various awards from agencies such as Hostelworld and Trip Advisor this 2013.

More kitchen stuff
In Japan they area very strict with time. Since I arrived too early for the check in time, I had to wait at the common area

Japan's High tech toilet

Four persons in one room. They have separate dorm for the females. Each occupant is also given a key

Kyoto tower can be seen from the rooftop.

I made the right decision in choosing this hostel, though it is more expensive than the other hostels around the area. This place is well maintained and has a nice interior design. The staff are English speaking and very helpful. There's also free WIFI so you get to update your friends online while you are in Kyoto.

TOKYO: Walking TOUR

My last days in Tokyo was awesome. I  was lucky enough to find a host through CouchSurfing. He was generous enough to allow me to stay in his place for two nights. He is a Filipino taking up his Masters Degree in University of Tokyo and he has been in Central Tokyo for more than a year already. So I must say that he has already adapted to the life in Tokyo.

I had been to Tokyo several times but this was the first time that someone was there to accompany me and re-explore the world's most densely populated city.

From my hostel in Asakusa I took the subway to Tokyo Station and from there transferred to the famous Yamanote line. I reached  the meeting place 10 minutes past the agreed time. Like any Japanese he was on time, and I apologized for that.

TIME TO RE- EXPLORE TOKYO

Our first stop was TOKYO TOM YAM a Thai restaurant walking distance from his place.

This place is always crowded. We were lucky that we were able to get a spot when we went there.

Yum yum...
I forgot the name but it was very delicious

Say cheese!

After eating we headed to WASEDA University and behind me is one of the famous buildings of the said University

Very Nice University. very reminiscent of my University in Korea
We then took the train towards IMPERIAL Palace. It was my first time! Hahahah. I do not like touristy places that is why I avoided this place. But when I went there with my host I realized that there are things which you can do inside which are  not too mainstream.
Near the entrance of Imperial Palace

SO happy because finally... a picture of me without using  a TRIPOD

My host brought with us something to eat. We found a bench and we just sat there and had a great time talking. Well if you are in a travel tour you might not probably be able to do that.

After resting, we decided to walk towards GINZA.

nice building.. so European inspired

Waiting for our turn

GINZA! My first time also

According to my host this is a famous building so I decided to strike a pose

Shopping MECCA. Believe if you know where to shop you can find cheap stuff in GINZA. My host recommended me  one place but again I forgot the name... hahah

The following day we had another walking tour of TOKYO
On the way to the train station we passed by this... Road filled with cherry blossom petals..AMAZING experience!

I took the bus Tokyo to Hamamatsu. I had 5 hours of waiting time so I decided to place my luggage in a coin locker in Tokyo Station.

I spend my remaining time in Akihabara. I will never ever forget this place because during my first in TOKYO. I had an emo-emohan experience here as a backpacker. I made a promise that I will go back to this place...and I am glad I did.
